The annual Corpus Christi procession will take place in Kilkenny City on this Sunday, 2nd June. The procession will start at St. John’s Catholic Church at 2.30pm sharp and proceed to St. Mary’s Cathedral for Solemn Benediction. (Please gather at St. John’s Church at 2.15pm to enable the stewards to organise the order of the procession).
Parishioners are invited to participate and a special invite is extended to members of Eucharistic Adoration Groups, St. Joseph’s Young Priests Society, Prayer Groups and our Altar Servers.
Those who received their first Holy Communion this year are invited to wear their outfits again and to participate in a place of honour in the procession.
The Vatican has asked all cathedrals across the world to organise an hour of Eucharistic adoration during the afternoon of Corpus Christi, Sunday 2nd June. It is hoped that this will, in many places, coincide with 5.00pm to 6.00pm Rome time enabling the faithful to join Pope Francis in prayer. This event is part of the Year of Faith and this is the first time in the history of the Church it is taking place.
Bishop Freeman has decided that the Eucharistic Procession will be the official contribution of the Diocese of Ossory to this event.

The Ministry of Altar Server
We are grateful to the many boys and girls who participate in the ministry of serving at the altar during Masses in our parish. Our parish servers traditionally retire when they enter 1st Year at secondary school. We believe there is scope for young people to remain with this task for a while longer and would be happy to have servers who are well in their teens. Come on boys and girls: keep up the good work!
