Diocese of Ossory Newsletter
Copies of the Ossory Times magazine are
still available to buy at all our churches and at the Parish Centre. This 52 page magazine has informative and
interesting articles which help to share and celebrate much of what is
happening in our diocese. Cost: €2.
Parish Calendar
The
parish calendar is available in the porches of our three churches and in the
sacristies. Please feel free to take
one. If you know of others who might
like a copy, please take one for them also.
Parish Mass Times
Mass will be celebrated at St.
Patrick’s Church at 11.00am on Monday and Tuesday of this week (31st &
1st). There will be no Mass at St.
Fiacre’s Church on these days. From
Wednesday, 2nd January our Mass times return to normal, 9.30am at St. Patrick’s
Church and 10.30am at St. Fiacre’s Church.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Monday Exposition
On account of it being New Year’s
Eve, there will be NO exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at St. Fiacre’s
church on this Monday. This is on
account of many regular worshippers being away and we cannot leave the Blessed
Sacrament unattended. The church
however will be open and do feel free to drop in for a prayer if you wish.
Parish Office Christmas
Times
The Parish Office will reopen to the public on Monday, 7th January 2013.
Christmas Offerings
Many and
sincere thanks to all who contributed to the Christmas Collection for the
support of the priests of the parish and the bishop; your generosity is greatly
appreciated. We are aware of the
financial strain many people are under in these difficult times so your
contribution is all the more appreciated.
As you’ll be aware, the priests and bishop derive their income solely
from the generosity of parishioners. Happy New Year to one and all.
First Friday Visits
This
coming Friday is the First Friday of January and the sick and housebound will
be visited at the usual times. If you or
someone you know from the parish is sick or housebound and unable to attend
Mass, we are happy to call and bring you Holy Communion on the First Fridays of
each month. Contact the Parish Office or
any of the priests of the parish to be included.
Parish Centre Christmas Times
The
Parish Centre will reopen on Wednesday, 2nd January 2013. All bookings for rooms in the centre must be
made through Mr. Ted Byrne.

emergencies and after hours calls. Just
ring the parish number (776 4400) and press ‘2’ when prompted by the telephone

Thank You
The priests and members of our
Parish Team would like to say a sincere word of thanks to all who prepared and celebrated
the Christmas liturgies with us. We are
particularly grateful to those who
cleaned the churches, prepared the altars and worked in the sacristies. As usual the choirs were of a very high
standard and appreciated by all. Many
others did Trojan work, much of it behind the scenes, and we acknowledge and
say thanks for your help.
Pro Life Vigil in Dublin
On Saturday,
19th January there will be a ‘Unite for Life’ pro-life vigil held in
Dublin at 4.30pm in Merrion Square. Please make every effort to be there and to
encourage family, friends and neighbours to do likewise. The vigil will have a
positive, clear message about safeguarding the lives of mothers and babies in
pregnancy. Posters will be provided on the day. Please do your part to spread the
word. For further information, please contact Denise on 087 266 8702.
Church Gate Collection
The Irish Wheelchair Association is
holding its annual Church gate
collections at all Masses next weekend, you are asked to give what you can
afford. Thank you very much for all your
help in the past. Without your generous support IWA would not be able to
deliver vital services to people with disabilities in this parish.
