The Epiphany of the Lord, 6th January 2013

St. Patrick’s Parish Statistics
It would appear that the future of our hurling and camogie teams has been secured into the future as 161 children were baptised in our parish during the past year. This represents an increase of 34 children on the previous year!

Meanwhile,  42 couples were married in the parish churches during 2012 – up 1 on 2011. Traditionally brides get married in their home parish - perhaps as many young men from our parish were married elsewhere.  Congratulations to them all.

Sadly 64 members of our parish community died during 2012.

Nativity Wisdom
A little girl and her mother were looking at the Nativity scene. The mother was explaining that the Wise Men were presenting their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the newborn King. The little girl looked in great adoration at the babe in the manger, then turning to her mother, thoughtfully said: “It might have been better if they had brought Him a bed!”

Rosary Before Mass
Each morning, before our 9.30 Mass in St. Patrick’s and our 10.30 Mass in St. Fiacre’s, we recite the rosary.  This is proving very popular in both churches and allows people time to settle into prayer before Mass.  Please feel free to join us for this prayer before Mass.

Exposition
There will be exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in St. Fiacre’s Church this Monday after the 10.30am Mass.  Exposition continues until 10pm and we ask for more volunteers to join us in dedicating some time to keeping the Lord company at one of the hours of exposition during the day.
There is also exposition in St. Patrick’s Church on Friday from 4pm to 9pm and volunteers are always needed for this time of adoration.
Out of respect for the Blessed Sacrament and for security reasons, we cannot leave the monstrance unattended.  If you would like to spend some time with the Lord and enter into more prayer for the New Year, then exposition may be for you.

Mass Cards/Intentions
A variety of Mass cards are available at the Parish Centre.  These cards are for those who wish to have a Mass offered for someone deceased or for  some other occasion/intention.  The cards are individually signed by the priests of the parish and an individual Mass is offered for each intention.  Please note that most of these Mass intentions are sent to the missions through Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), where individual Masses are guaranteed.  The money sent for these Masses makes up most of the missionary priests income. The suggested stipend for an individual Mass is €10.
We now also offer a shared Mass facility where people can submit an intention for inclusion in a shared Mass offered.  The suggested offering for a shared mass is €3.
