13th Sunday in Ordinary Time, 1st July 2012

Foulkstown Cemetery Mass
Please note that the annual Foulkstown Cemetery Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, 26th July at 7.30pm.  While the members of the Cemetery Committee work hard to maintain the graveyard to the highest standard, they do not look after individual graves.  It is up to the individual families to maintain their own graves.  Thanks to all who take care of our cemetery.

Registration in the Parish
We are anxious that all members of St. Patrick’s Parish be formally registered with us.  This facilitates proper planning, budgeting and decision making in our parish community.  As many already know we are obliged to pay an annual diocesan levy on the population of our parish.  Furthermore, accurate figures are required to make decisions about the regularity of Masses, deployment of personnel and the use of material resources.
We appeal for your assistance in this matter.  Please contact the Parish Office to ensure you and your family are registered.

Peter’s Pence Collection
This tradition originated in Europe towards the end of the 8th Century.  Like other practices of its kind, this custom underwent many changes in the course of the centuries, until in 1871 Pope Pius IX gave it his approval in the Encyclical Letter Saepe Venerabilis.  At present the collection is taken up throughout the Catholic world either on 29th June, the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, or on the Sunday closest to this Solemnity
Accordingly, the second collection at our Masses this weekend will be for the Holy Father. Please support this collection, the proceeds of which will be sent to the Pope for his charitable use.

Eucharistic Congress Healing Stone
Lord we are so sorry for what some of us did to your children;
Treated them so cruelly,

We have left them with a life-long suffering.
This was not your plan for them or us.
Please help us to help them.
Guide us, Lord.  Amen

Foulkstown Cemetery
We are currently in the process of erecting NO DUMPING sings in Foulkstown Cemetery.  We hope this will make it absolutely clear to those who are illegally dumping that our facilities are for the cemetery only.
Once the signs are in place we hope to open the far gate to allow public access to cars once again.  However if the dumping continues, we will have no alternative but to close this permanently.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience that has been caused by the gate closure.   This was all due to one or two individuals.  We again appeal to people to keep a watchful eye for illegal dumping, note registration of cars and forward them to the Parish Office.   Thank you for your co-operation.
