Christ the Kind, 22nd November 2015

Feast of Christ the King
The Feast of Christ the King is celebrated today.
It is the final Sunday of the Liturgical Year. We also reflect on final things and look forward to the coming of the Lord. Let us not be without hope and courage as Jesus is our leader. We are joyous on this feast and honour Jesus as our King. We have allegiance to Him that we do not have to anybody else. Christ came among us to reveal the truth and to lead us to heaven. Everlasting life and glory await those who follow Christ in hope and are faithful to Him. We have a duty to be witnesses to the Kingdom of God. We can say the following prayer today.
Jesus my King, my friend and my beloved;
Jesus my protector from sin and death.
Sacred Heart of Jesus
may your Kingdom come.  Amen.

November Memories
This is the time of year when it’s easy to think about death, about those who have died.  Over these November days many make a pilgrimage to a grave.  The cemetery, carpeted in the fallen leaves of autumn, reminds us of the flimsy hold we have on life.  Walking through the headstones brings back also, the memory of men and women who walked the pilgrim path of life with us and shaped us by their love, their courage and their endless understanding.
Lord, we miss them a lot, though we know they are at peace.  Sustain in your care those who have died, and comfort us in the knowledge that one day we shall meet them, and you, face to face.  Lord, this November, reward the dead for the living they left us and for all the beautiful memories.
