Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, 28th July 2013

Cemetery Mass
Sincere thanks to all who worked long and hard to make the annual cemetery Mass in Foulkstown last Thursday such a success.  There was a tremendous turnout for this special occasion of remembering deceased loved ones.
The members of the Cemetery Committee wish to offer a special thanks to all who contributed so generously towards the cemetery collection and the money will be put to good use maintaining the cemetery throughout the year ahead.
Special note:  As there are no longer facilities available in Foulkstown for disposing of dead flowers, wrappings etc. (Blame the illegal dumpers who were using the skip to get rid of household waste), we ask people who are maintaining graves to take their waste items home with them and dispose of them in a proper manner.  Thanks for your cooperation on this matter.

You will never be disappointed!
Pope Francis has asked young pilgrims attending this week’s World Youth Day celebrations to keep Jesus at the “centre of their lives.”  Pope Francis asked young Catholics to imagine they were with Jesus on the seashore and asked them to follow Jesus and share his love with others, as he addressed them earlier this week on Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro.  Faith, he said, is “an operation that shifts concerns and priorities so that they revolve around Jesus and not the individual or false idols”.
“Certainly possessions, money and power can give a momentary thrill, the illusion of being happy,” he said, “but they end up possessing us and making us always want to have more, never satisfied.”  Instead, he said, with Christ as the centre of your life “you will never be disappointed,” but, he added, “the young must be strong” to resist the temptations around them.
Regularly updated reports on World Youth Day will be available on www.catholicbishops.ie
