Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, 26th July 2015

Foulkstown Cemetery Mass
The annual Cemetery Mass at Foulkstown will be celebrated on this Thursday, 30th July at 7.30pm.
It’s time to pay special attention to family graves to have them looking well for the Cemetery Celebration.  We appeal to those who have time and energy to care for the adjacent graves of those with elderly or no living relatives.
Those who attend regularly will appreciate the need to arrive early as heavy traffic in the area causes delays for Mass goers.  We ask that you obey the directions and instructions given by the Gardai and stewards.

Cistercian College, Roscrea is the venue for this year’s Youth 2000 Summer Festival.  The event runs from Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th August and is for young people aged 16 to 35 years.  This is a great opportunity to find out what our Catholic faith is all about in a friendly, chilled out atmosphere.  The festival is donation only.  Free buses available from all around Ireland.  For more info and to book online, see www.youth2000.ie or phone 01 675 3690.

Irish National Eucharistic Congress
The Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference will celebrate a National Eucharistic Congress on the weekend of 26th and 27th September at Knock Shrine, Co Mayo. The Congress will serve both as a spiritual preparation for the 51st International Eucharistic Congress 2016 in Cebu next January and as an opportunity to focus, in the light of our Eucharistic communion, on some of the important pastoral questions in the life of the Church at the present time.  The theme for the National Congress, echoing the theme of IEC2016, is “Christ, our Hope”.  It is our intention that, in so far as possible, this theme would be reflected in all homilies and presentations given at the National Eucharistic Congress.  The Congress, which is free of charge, will have a particular focus on Marriage and the Family as well as the Year of Consecrated Life.  All are welcome.

Pilgrim Mass of Blessing
To celebrate the Feast of St. James of Compostela a Camino walk will take place beginning at Jenkinstown Church at 2.00pm on this Sunday, 26th July. Later that evening a showing of the film ‘The Way’ will take place in the Chapter Room, St. Mary’s Cathedral at 7.00pm. All welcome.

Thought for the Week
The Road to Wisdom?
Well, it’s plain and simple to express;
Err and err and err again,
But less and less and less.   (Piet Hein)
